Hello Bird

911 Parrot Alert was started in 2004. One day Donna, our founder, tried to find an ad for a bird on a lost and found site which she had previously seen. The ad no longer existed. Most likely the bird was lost forever.

It was then she had the idea – Lost and Found posts should be cross-referenced from lost and found sites and put into one database. The information would then be stored and old ads would be preserved.

Since 2005 911 Parrot Alert has been a legitimate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a primary objective of gathering and exchanging information on Lost, Found, Stolen and Sighted pet birds, thereby greatly improving recovery statistics on an International bases. Our ultimate GOAL is to reunite these birds with their rightful owners.

To this day, 911 Parrot Alert is run and maintained by volunteer members. We comb through Internet and newspaper ads, make contacts, and offer guidance and support to members with missing or found pet birds.

The info you send us helps to identify possible matches and greatly improve recovery statistics.

KrisI’m from Delaware and moved back there with my husband and two children after my husband retired from the Air Force in 2009.  We were stationed in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC for twelve years.  I started volunteering with 911 Parrot Alert in 2006 shortly after finding a little blue parakeet, which I named Sky.  Sky has three other parakeet friends named Shadow, Martin, and Ernie.  I cover Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC on Craigslist.

KarenI am retired and currently split my time between Maryland and South Carolina and share my home with my husband of 24 years and an ornery 27-year-old Mitred Conure named ‘Oscar’. I have owned parrots for 25+ years and have been a volunteer with 911 Parrot Alert for five years.
