UPDATE SIGHTING Lake Accotink Park near Rolling Rd
The parakeet  is accessible by a small, paved road (little more than a walking path) that connects to Rolling Rd just south of where Rolling Rd intersects Southampton Dr. (total of about 1/4 mile south of intersection between Rolling Rd and Burke Lake Rd). There’s a median strip, so the small road where you need to pull off can only be reached when you are traveling northbound on Rolling Rd. There’s a sign at the entrance of it that says “5701 Rolling Rd” (or similar). if  you drive along that narrow road (carefully, since it’s not wide enough for 2 way traffic) a short distance, you’ll see a place where you can pull off at the right that looks like an electric plant or something similar. Don’t stop there, go a tiny bit further to where there’s a small gravel road/driveway on the right and pull off and stop there. We saw the parakeet in the trees along the small paved rd just before the gravel rd (on the right) and just opposite it (on the left). We also saw it stop on the paved rd/path in shady spots along the bushes that are just past the gravel rd to gather food.

There is a very pretty green and yellow bird (pretty sure it is some type of parakeet) hanging out in Lake Accotink Park near Rolling Rd. in Springfield, VA. The bird sang to me and checked me out but then got spooked and flew away. It doesn’t seem to really know what it is doing in the wild and needs help.
