I posted an ad last week for my parakeet Dakota, and I brought him back home today.

I took my other bird (who he adores) out to look for him on Saturday and to put up posters. I didn’t find him then, but I talked to someone who suggested that I put an ad in the local paper. The newspaper office was closed that day, but I stopped there on my way home today, and they showed me the lost and found section, so I could get an idea as to what my options were, and there it was. There was an ad there about a parakeet having been found. I called the number, and it was him. Later tonight I got an email from someone who connects Butler Eagle ads to Craigslist ads (which I put up just after I joined 911 parrot alert). She was going to give me the same number I had found earlier today. But anyway, he ended up on the opposite side of town from where I had thought he had gone. He chirped the entire way home, and now he’s sitting quietly in his cage (he doesn’t seem to want to be out at the moment). All in all, he was gone just under a week. And I’m very glad he’s home.
