S.O.S. LOST AFRICAN GREY PARROT. REWARD OF $5,000 IF YOU HELP REUNITE US WITH OWEN (“PEEPER”).

We have been searching for eight years for Owen aka Peeper, our Congo African Grey parrot, who was lost on 6/12/2006 on the campus of the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. Owen was fully flighted, and could be anywhere by now. He flew away from my husband and out the kitchen door, three days after I left for an international trip with a student group. The last definite, confirmed sighting of Owen was on 6/19/2006 on the Madeira School campus; other sightings were reported throughout that summer and into the fall. The last possible sighting was in 3/2007, when a wildlife rescue worker reported seeing an African Grey flying in the vicinity of Westmoreland Street in Falls Church, VA.

Description: Grey, with red tail, black parrots beak, silver band with letters and numbers, including FL00, as well as other numbers and letters. Owen speaks English words and phrases, laughs in a woman’s voice and whistles show tunes (“The King and I,” Singing in the Rain,” “Chocolat,” etc.).

We are completely heartbroken. We loved Owen as our child and will never abandon our search for him. Please, please help! Owen may have come down to someone who doesn’t know how to search for a lost bird’s family. If you know someone who may have adopted or purchased a “found” African Grey with a silver band, please call or text Doug and Sara Cleveland at (703) 887-5553. Our land line is (434) 295-0660. Or contact us by email at sara.cleveland@gmail.com.
