When Nick Dalton and his friend Haley went fishing at 68th Avenue & Pecos Street on Monday, they thought they’d bring home some fish. They brought home a bird instead. When the pair heard something in the brush, they thought there were snakes nearby.

Instead, a little bird popped out, walked over to Dalton’s shoe and hopped on it. He leaned down and put his hand out, and the bird jumped on his finger and walked up his arm. The bird stayed on Dalton’s shoulder the entire time he was fishing. Dalton brought the bird home and fed it seeds and water.

The bird has a tag on its leg with numbers on it. The family is sure someone is sick about losing the pet.

A bicycle rider along the path at the pond says he’d seen the bird several times over the past few weeks, so he has probably been missing for some time.
