A SCARBOROUGH woman is hoping to reunite a feathered friend with its family.

Kathryn Hope, who lives in Scalby Village, got more thank she bargained for after her cockatiel, Billy, went missing a month ago.

After putting up posters all over the village, the shop assistant was delighted to hear that her beloved pet was safe and sound at Companion Care Vets, based at Pets at Home in Seamer Road.

However, after she had picked him up, another cockatiel was found in South Street, Scalby. Having seen the posters, the lady who found the bird contacted Mrs Hope thinking the bird was hers.

She is now looking after the female cockatiel and is hoping its owner will come forward and claim him.

Mrs Hope said: “The female seems fine. We’re keeping them caged separately but we do let them out together.

“If no one comes forward we’ll be happy to keep her.” If you can help call reporter Susan Stephenson on (01723) 383877.
