Great news – My lost jenday conure was returned to me today! …

Thanks for your reply.  It’s an interesting story.  I made several flyers and left them at animal shelters, vets, and pet stores.  One of the pet stores said that 2 boys had come in a few days ago and said they found a bird that matched that description, and they bought a cage to keep her until they could find the owner.  The store did not have the boys’ contact information, but later that day the boys called the pet store again, and then they were given my number and I went to pick her up.  She was only 3 streets away from where she had escaped, and she had flown into their garage and wouldn’t leave.  I guess she had enough of the outdoors!  We’ve also been having an extreme heat wave (105-109 degrees each day), so I am surprised that she survived 2-3 days before they took her in.  I am so happy to have her back!  I will take her to the vet soon to make sure she didn’t pick up any disease while in the wild.

Connie accidentally flew away in the Coit / Hedgecoxe area of Plano late Wednesday, August 3. She has a green back, red chest, yellow head, and a band on one foot. Her wings have not been clipped recently and she can fly well. We are experiencing a heat wave and drought, so I don’t know how long she will survive in the wild. She is closely bonded to me, but wary of strangers. Please let me know if you spot her or are able to rescue her.
