What we did:
1st, placed an ad on Craigslist,  an ad in local newspaper lost & found, phoned the area animal pound, found Parrot 911 and then printed of 500 flyer post cards at Staples which cost less than $15.00.  Then we walked every neighborhood block in a one & onehalf radius. We taped the flyer to the front door to be sure everyone saw it.  We then went to every neighborhood school & spoke to the office and they to allowed us to place postcards in the school.  then we just walked and checked every tree from morning to night.  Yes it was exhausing! This was all done in 24 hours from Eli’s departure.  He flew off at 5pm and all the above was completed by 7pm the next evening.
Then on evening of day 3, we got a phone call from a neighbor one and half blocks away that said she remembered our flyer from 2 days ago and thought she would just smoke a cigerette in her back yard and just look in her trees.  It was about 5:15 pm and as she stood on her porch, Eli flew onto her fence and she called his name “Eli” and he flew right to her.  She then placed him in her bathroom and called us.
I really think getting Eli back was just persereerance. We were extremly proactive and spoke to every human we saw outside every night and just let people know he was missing.
As I said, we are so incredibly blessed to have him back. He is still just a baby, 8 months old. But he is OUR baby. He is one of our children and we were devistated that he was gone.  We had been cutting his wings back slowly as to build confindence, but yesterday, we cut them back much more.
thank you so very much for all the support and for the website,  just having his name and picture out where everyone could see did bring some relief knowing we did all we could. Blessing to all of you and again thank you so much for your website!
