LOW ACT: Two Alexandrine parrots have been stolen from their owner at Sawtell.

PETTY theft can hardly get much worse, than when a much loved family pet is stolen – let alone two.

Sawtell Rd resident Christine Rose has been left distraught after she returned home after a few days away to find her two rare Alexandrine parrots gone.

The exotic birds, native to India, were stolen from a cage in the yard of her home.

“A neighbour had been looking after them for me, I was away on Sunday and Monday and when I returned on Tuesday I was devastated to find them missing,” Ms Rose said.

“They are like my children, they are two-years-old, and I desperately want them back.”

Ms Rose is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the return of the birds.

“The thief broke into their padlocked cage through the roof.

“These birds are my babies.

“If anyone can please help return them to me I would be forever grateful.

Anyone who has information on the stolen parrots is urged to call and leave an anonymous message on the Advocate answering machine – 66 502 948.

Alternatively Pacific Vetcare at Sawtell have generously offered to accept the birds with no questions asked. They can be phoned on 6653 1555.

The theft is under investigation by Sawtell Police.

The incident comes with news that police are investigating the theft of two South American macaws, valued at $14,000, from a Sydney pet shop overnight.
