My African Grey was FOUND! (Park Ridge)
Date: 2011-10-10, 4:50PM CDT

To all those who responded to my posting and to the fliers in the area: a BIG THANK YOU! Because of so many nice, helping people I was able to track my baby the past couple days, and today we actually recovered her! (at least I think it is a ‘her’)

On Saturday we saw her being chased by a falcon/hawk, and I thought all was lost. Today she is in her box happily eating and cuddling again. Thank you for your prayers and calls and help. I wish and pray that everyone has their prayers answered when a loved on is lost.

Yesterday was its first flight ever. Baby just finished growing out its feathers, and still had some down left. I was still feeding it 2 – 3 times a day using baby formula and syringe. Today we saw it fly from one tree to the top of another on Canfield near Glenlake. We kept vigil for over 4 hours, coaxing it to come down and eat. I believe it was trying to fly down to the lawn, when it got spooked and made a big circle around the neighborhood. My husband said he saw a hawk/falcon following it. My daughter said she saw the hawk land in a different tree, and Baby Grey went the other way, heading north/west. Baby is very timid, and afraid. Looks like most African Greys: powdery grey feathers with a cherry red tail. Eyes are still all black.
