Details on Baci’s recovery:

The story is quite astonishing.  I live in Southwest Michigan on Lake Michigan where the temps can REALLY fluctuate at this time of year.   He escaped on Sunday evening around 6:00 pm.  I spent 2 sleepless nights combing the internet and posting everywhere I could find to post.  I then sent emails to my friends and asked them to forward emails.  I posted it on Facebook and asked people to repost. I put up posters ALL OVER my neighborhood within a 2 mile radius and walked the neighborhood handing out flyers – ESPECIALLY to young kids (who I found LOVE parrots) and sent them on a mission to find him.  I got news that kids around several neighborhoods were calling into the trees.  I also especially asked avid gardeners to be on the lookout since they spend so much time outdoors.

One of my friends sent me an email on Monday morning (morning after he escaped) and said she put it on Craigs List under “Lost Pets”.  To be honest, I thought that really was a long shot.  I got a phone call on Tuesday evening (48 + hours after losing him) around 7:00 pm (temps were dropping into the 40s this evening) from a woman at a little league field who found the posting on Craigs List after Baci had flown down into the middle of a game of catch her 2 sons (9 and 11) were having on the sidelines of the little league game!!  I could not BELIEVE he was in perfect shape other than being extremely hungry, thirsty and quite cold!  He is very, very tame so I am not surprised that he sought out people in a very noisy, active open area.

Thanks for your help, concern and volunteerism)))

Email from owner:

i WANT TO REPORT THAT I HAVE BEEN REUNITED WITH MY PARROT

————

Baci (as in “bocce ball”) is a 14 year old Senegal parrot that we have had since his birth. He managed to fly out the front door and his wings being too long at this time, is scared and flying. He is very tame and hand trained and loves people. He will respond to his name with calls (two whistles “syllables”) and will also respond very loudly to a “wolf whistle” (WOOT-WOOT) He can imitate a cardinal call perfectly and will also respond back to the name “Angie” (again with 2 whistles trying to sound like “Angie”). WE are DESPERATE to find him. Any INFORMATION please contact 269-xxx-xxxx or email angelalab-at-comcast.net
