  • Species: Ringneck - Indian (See species list for details)
  • Location: San Diego, California, United States 91945
  • Date Lost: December 21, 2014
  • Banded: Yes
  • Microchipped: No

Daffy is a Lutino (Yellow Mutation) Indian Ring Necked Parrot, banded with dark blue aluminum leg band, tame.
He was whisked away by a surprise gust of wind while he was getting in a car with his owner (Mary) in the downtown San Diego area near Petco Baseball Park.

Daffy does not normally fly away and will be very afraid until he finds his way home.
The area he was lost is very rough and has many stray cats and hundreds of homeless people (some of whom have dogs). Much construction is happening in this area and he may have landed within a fenced area under construction.

Daffy will gladly step up onto a hand if it is offered with the spoken words: “Step Up”
He is a little afraid of hats (particularly baseball caps).
He loves to be spoken to but hates it when people try to touch his beautiful long tail.

Daffy can talk very clearly. His favorite phrases include “What is it?” and “Where’s Waldo?”
He might say “Step Up” when found….meaning he wants to step up on your hand.
He has a slightly enlarged right nostril as a result of an old injury.

I’ve had Daffy since he was a baby (about 8 years). He has some flock mates at home and will be missing them.
Daffy cannot see very well at night and bright sun in his eyes isn’t good for him either.
He loves peanuts in the shell (no salt). He eats a varied diet of bird pellets, fresh fruit and vegetables, and safflower seeds.
Daffy also loves a big bowl of fresh clean water to splash in each day.

If you see Daffy please contact me at my email address: marycarunski@aol.com

Daffy is most likely still Downtown San Diego near Petco Park or around Island and 14th Street.

Please help me get Daffy home safely. He has zero survival skills and is NOT street-smart.
Thank you,
Mary
