911ParrotAlert was originally built using a Yahoo Group discussion forum. It worked for many years but it wasn’t really ideal. Yahoo Groups was intended for discussions on certain topics, not for people trying to reunite birds with their owners. So we worked to build a new website with more modern, custom features built just for 911ParrotAlert. In 2011, we launched our new website!
911ParrotAlert is 100% volunteer run. Unfortunately our volunteers were not able to go back and move all the old listings in the Yahoo Groups website into our new website – they were too busy with the daily new listings as it was. So we are keeping the Yahoo Group still available as a resource for those who are not able to find their bird in our new database.
