My daughter found a lovebird living on the lam in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, last week (July 2012). (I don’t know enough about lovebirds to tell if it is a male or female.) My daughter is very concerned about him/her because while the weather is nice now, it won’t be in a few months.
The lovebird is living at a recreation park for a company that my son plays soccer at. The staff there know about him/her (some are birders) but none have any idea about how to capture him/her. How should we try to catch the lovebird? There are a lot of other birds at the park. Is there any way to attract him/her but not the other birds? S/he likes to sit on a Purple Martin house, and in a very tall pine tree. I don’t know where s/he roosts at night.
I have attached a few photos. Any advice you can supply would be most appreciated.
