My Sun Conure parrot escaped the house after hearing a loud noise outside. We usually keep her cage and the house doors open because she does not like to venture outside. We chased after her screaming her name but she kept rising higher and higher and going farther and farther.

That night and the next few nights it rained harder than any day this year. We were devastated knowing that Rayna is not a wild bird and does not have survival skills. We put her perch up on our rooftop hoping that if she flew around she could see it and land on it.

It has been 5 days and no sign of Reyna. I’ve gone around the neighborhood ringing her bell and screaming out her name, but there’s no response. We are not sure if she’s still alive and where she could have gone. I just hope she’s safe.

She is a 9 year old sun conure. She has a band on her foot and is missing one of her toenails. She’s shy and territorial and very picky about who she likes. I know she dearly misses her cage and her home because she would never leave it. To think she’s out there all alone, scared, hungry and defenseless. It just kills me…
