“Hootsie” is my 10 year old Congo African Grey. He has an extensive vocabulary of words, phrases and sing-songs. He is shy around strangers upon first encounters, thus doesn’t speak much. He calls for me using either “Daddy” or “Mark”. He is well trained to obey the “step up” command and nips a bit but no hard bites. If handling him (male bird) be firm when simultaneously sticking a hand under his breastbone and saying “step up”. He is easy to control in this manner. Hold on to his toes when putting him in a cage, etc.. He has a left leg band with Az Bird Farm on it.. Owner will supply complete band information.
