I found a bird with bands on both legs in Pelham Parkway (park), Bronx, NY today, near Young Avenue. The poor bird appears to have been attacked and partially eaten by a hawk, so it is hard to identify the species. The photo is upsetting, but if this was my pet, I would want to know what happened, rather than the fear of not knowing, and have closure. The wings are visible and the legs – one leg has a plain pink band and a white band; the other has a band that says USA 2021 on one side, and a three-digit number on the other. I’m not allowed to include the number here. So if you think this is your bird, let me know the number and I will tell you if it is the same.
