Yesterday evening, my 5-year old green Quaker parrot flew out the front door around 4:30pm. He flew very high up into a tree in my front yard, where I talked to him & attempted to coax him down for over 2.5 hours. Then, around 7pm, he flew off as if he were trying to fly down to me, but could not judge how low to fly, then he swooped up and over the house across the street. I walked until dark around my neighborhood, Carriage Hills, near the 39th St. & Lee’s Summit Road area in Independence, just north of I-70.

He’s a very tame bird. Hand fed as a baby.  His name is Pickle and he knows his name and can talk a little. I have had him since he was 11 weeks old. He has a purple breeder’s band around his left leg. He is very clingy and likes to be near me as much as possible. He’s used to having freedom of flight inside the house during the day, but has never gone near the door. He has typically been scared of the door opening, so therefore, the last 5 years, it never concerned me that he might try to go through the door. I was leaving through the front door with my little dog when something must have spooked him and out he flew.

Please call me if anyone sees him in this area:  eight-one-six-729-33-nine four. Thank you!!
