I am such a horrible Momma Bird!!! Kumar is gone again!!!
Kumar is a very happy, six year old, spoiled rotten, extremely charismatic, inside flighted yellow napped amazon. He is a very unique and highly intelligent parrot. I taught him how to view every angle of the apartment through mirrors. So he isn’t afraid of his own shadow. He loves to climb on his toys that hang from the ceiling and play catch with me as he giggles!! Kumar is also a survivor because when he was three years old he was attacked by a raccoon and survived after two weeks in the hospital! So, he is very aware of the dangers in the wild!! And because he would go bike riding with me everywhere…he is very familiar with a more than 10 mile radius of the outside environment. So, he knows where home is because he flew away the first time on Cinco De Mayo 2016 and to my greatest unexpected joy Kumar returned on his own five days later unharmed.
And yet I feel like such a horrible Bird mom because I let it happen again!!! Kumar is gone!!!
I am led to believe that Kumar likes to travel on the holidays because once again he snuck out on Father’s Day 06/19/2016 and flew to a mango tree late into the evening. I was able to locate him…climbed all the way up the mango tree with a busted wrist to get him!! And believe it or not when I told him that it was getting late and it was time to go home and to “step-up”…Kumar simply said “NO”!!! After repeatedly trying to get him to come to me…he simply kept saying “NO”! He then flew back towards the house but by that time it was too late and I couldn’t see where he went. He was then sighted by a neighbor a week later on 06/27/2016 in a mango tree but I didn’t find this out until two days later!!! Neighbor never knocked on my door!!! Since then I have not seen him!! :(( Please help me to bring my stubborn bird back to me!! He is greatly missed!! 616-308-2818. Thank you!
