“Chiquis” is an American Kestrel (a small falcon) and a professional falconry service bird. She was lost 2 days ago during a falconry training exercise on the Westside near the Safeway shopping center. WE ARE OFFERING A REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO HER RE-CAPTURE!!!!!!!! Chiquis is vulnerable to larger predators, so we desperately want to find her!

Chiquis is small (maybe 6 inches long, give or take), and may be hunting prey in a 10-block radius from the Safeway shopping center, although by now she could realistically be anywhere in Santa Cruz. She may hunting in areas where there are small birds (sparrows, starlings, etc.) or other small prey (mice, moles, etc.), for example in fields or open lots that are about 30-40 square feet large (and larger).

Last time she was seen, she was wearing a radio transmitter on her leg (blue with a black antenna, see photo below). Please look carefully at the below photos (not photos of Chiquis, but show what a typical American Kestrel looks like).

THANK YOU and if you have ANY information or may have possibly seen her, please send a text to both (310)213-5184 AND (831)206-3565. You may also email, however both a text and phone call to both of the above #’s would be preferable, since IT IS CRITICAL THAT WE GO IMMEDIATELY AND AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TO ANY LOCATION WHERE SHE HAS POSSIBLY BEEN SPOTTED. Thanks again for your help!
