sadly, my sweet, beloved CAG flew off my shoulder, out the front door while I was letting someone in the house. He was spooked and flew because he was scared. Unfortunately, since he was spooked, his “fight or flight” syndrome kicked in and he flew and flew and flew to the highest point of a tree in a near by neighbors yard. We tried desperately to get him to come down, but he was just so confused by all the limbs and branches that he didn’t know how, after about 10 minutes of my daughter climbing up the tree and trying to talk him down, another bird flew right into him, attacking him which obviously caused Maui to to take off again, only now, I can’t find him and it was dusk at that point. I can not put into words how completely heartbroken I am and how terrified I am for HIM. I know he has no understanding of how to fend for himself and that’s the least of the terrible thoughts going through my head that I’m afraid could happen to him. His name is Maui and he is very tame, he’s a bit shy with new people but he does NOT bite, if you see Maui, just call his name and hold your arm out for him to land on, if you’re an inexperienced bird handler, use a pillow case to contain him until you can either find some other way to keep him contained and safe, or until you’re able to get in touch with me to come pick him up. I got Maui as a birthday present from my husband, he was only 8 weeks old and I hand-fed him myself, I’d ALWAYS wanted a bird like Maui, but knew having one meant being a very committed companion, since I raised 3 daughters, I waited for them all to become adults, so I could give my sweet bird all the love and attention he could ever want or need!!! He is very much loved by myself, my husband, and our 3 girls. Our German Shepherd, and our little Sun Conure will be missing him too because they’re Maui’s bestest friends in all the world!!!
