Police are on the lookout for some stolen parrots, and you might be able to help find them.

They were stolen from an exotic birds store in north Phoenix, near 7th St and Greenway. The two suspects walked in, took a look at some of the Senegal African birds and left. A few minutes after they were gone, a worker noticed two baby parrots were gone.

Now there are 3 of the baby Senegal African parrots — the missing two were swiped Monday afternoon.

“They put them up underneath their shirts. Went over to the register and just left the store,” says – Robert Lenzner.

The birds are small and easy to handle. The whole incident was caught on surveillance video.

The owners say these two walked into the store and started looking at the birds.

From this angle you see one of them holding a parrot.

Minutes later they stop by the register and walk out of the store.

The parrots are 3 months old and store’s owners worry that whoever took doesn’t know how to care for them.

“There is still one hand-feeding a day. Which makes it even more critical,” says Dawn Lenzner.

Workers hand-feed all the baby parrots until they’re able to eat on their own.

“They could literally starve to death if they are not being hand-fed. They can’t just go out to the store and buy bird seed because they are not used to eating bird seed,” says Robert.

The owners of Tropic Zone Exotic Birds have a very open store for a reason. They want potential owners to be able get very close and even handle the birds — but now that may change.

“So now we are going to have to take measures where maybe we are not going to have them out here to make them such easy targets.”

Those baby parrots retail for about $500. Anyone who can help should call Phoenix Police.
