Story on Peetie’s recovery:

“I lost Peetie, our cockatiel on Saturday morning.  I notified our leasing office at the appartments we live at.  It’s a huge complex 550 units with so many trees, shrubs, pools.  I put out flyers that day, all over the area.  I rode my bike at 5:00 in the morning and sunset at night, whistling for her and walked tirelessly every day.  I have had Peetie for 17 years and wasn’t going to give up.

On Tuesday I got a call from the leasing office that a resident said a parakeet was on his porch. The leasing agent drove me in his cart, three apartment buildings from where we live.  Peetie was purched up on a beam on his front porch.  I sat down and talked to her, she flew down to me.  She was so hungry and tired.  Her eyes were slits for a day and she ate for hours.  I put a heating pad on her cage and covered it with blankets, open in the front.

Today is Thursday and she is doing great.  I kiss her and hold her all day.  I still put the pad on her cage at night to keep her extra warm.

Thank you so much for your concern.  It is a miracle that we found Peetie.

My best,
Lisa”

Peetie is grey, white and yellow with orange cheeks. I have had her for 17 years. She is in great health. I left our front door open when she was out of her cage. I am devistated. I put up flyers, ride my bike day and night looking for her.

She flew away at The Reserve Apartments in 4S Ranch, San Diego. 92127 at 10 :30 Saturday morning June 2nd.

Thank you so much for this site. It brings hope.
