Missing for over a week, Zircon is a hahn’s mini macaw. He is all green with red shoulders and may have been spotted at two locations in Santa Cruz yesterday and today:

1. Atlantic Ave @ 1st and 2nd, and
2. In a group of trees near Brommer and 7th

Please, any sightings please call or text 831-585-0801. Thank you!

I have had Zircon for over four years, since he was about three weeks old. I hand-fed him and have cared for him, as has his big sis Ruby, a yellow-sided green cheek conure, now currently 7. Neither birds are clipped and are provided lots of time out of their cage and permitted to fly (which Zircon especially loves). We have never had an incident with him trying to get out, however on Monday the 16th he got especially excited watching me wash their cage outside and when I came in for a towel he pounced from his tree stand and managed to slip by me. He had a grand time circling the house before he went off to explore.

He answers to his name and “good boy.” You may also get his attention by calling Ruby’s name or by clicking your tongue, a sound he likes to mimick when he dances. He loves fruits and may be easily tempted by a bowl of cut up pieces. He loves flying onto shoulders and may do so if provided an offering. He also loves the sound of other birds and so it is my hope he will go to someone who has a bird feeder or parrots of their own.

I am taking any calls, emails, or texts with ANY information. POSSIBLE sightings, strange squawks not normal to an area, I will investigate any leads, so don’t hold them back!
