Birds of a feather, stolen together
Tuesday, 13 March 2012 18:56

Detectives are investigating the theft of two exotic birds from a Glen Waverley pet shop overnight.

Two men pulled up outside the Springvale Road pet store about 11.30pm yesterday and set up orange bollards around their ute and trailer.

The duo has then smashed the shop’s window, with one targeting the store till and the other stealing the two birds.

The black and gold macaw, valued at around $6500, and a red parrot, valued at around $1000, were both taken during the burglary.

The men then loaded the two cages into the ute and trailer and fled from the scene.

They were driving a utility with stolen registration plates and towing a distinctive, light-coloured box trailer on the back.

One man is described as having a solid build and wearing a fluorescent orange reflective vest.

The second man is of medium build and wearing a grey hoodie.

Police have released the below images of the stolen birds in the hope that someone is able to identify them and contact police.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the burglary to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
